Malaysia Advances in Sudirman Cup

On April 29, 2025, during the 2025 Sudirman Cup held in Xiamen, China, Malaysia's national badminton team secured a 4–1 victory over Australia in their Group C match. This win followed their earlier 5–0 triumph against France, ensuring Malaysia's advancement to the quarter-finals of the tournament.

In their final group stage match on May 1, Malaysia faced Japan in a closely contested tie. Despite taking an early 2–0 lead with wins in mixed doubles and men's singles, Malaysia ultimately fell 2–3 to Japan. This result placed Malaysia as the runner-up in Group C, setting up a quarter-final clash against defending champions China on May 2.

The Sudirman Cup is a prestigious biennial mixed team badminton championship, featuring top national teams from around the world. Malaysia has consistently performed well in past editions, reaching the semi-finals in both 2021 and 2023.
